No AI

Why there’s
no AI in Diaforik.

Version 1.0 · September 2026 · Sam Bruley

Every tool company is adding an AI layer. We are not. Not now, not later. There is no AI in the app, the audit, or the record, nothing in the diagnostic path that decides on its own. Here’s why, and it isn’t sentiment.

1. A comeback is a confident guess that was wrong

That’s what a comeback is. The last thing a shop needs is a machine that produces confident guesses faster. A fault gets found by measuring, ruling out and proving. The tool that helps is the one that holds you to that, not the one that hands you an answer to try.

2. The same case has to give the same answer twice

A fixed chain does. Give it the same complaint and the same readings tomorrow and it says the same thing, and a person can read exactly why. A model can say something different the second time, and nobody can say why. You can’t build a standard on that.

Don’t take our word for it. Open your favorite chatbot (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok) and describe a soft brake pedal after a caliper job. Then open a new chat and ask the same thing again. Watch the answer move: the parts it names, the order it puts them in, how sure it sounds. Now imagine that on the record with your name under it.

3. The record has to be checkable

An owner, an instructor, a warranty claim, a customer’s lawyer: the record is for people who weren’t there. Every line on it has to trace to a reading, a spec, or a person’s name. A generated sentence traces to nothing.

4. It cannot invent a number

A part number, an oil capacity, a torque spec. A model can produce one that looks right and isn’t. In this trade a wrong number is a wheel coming off. Our specs come from service information and are looked up, not generated.

5. Techs have to get better, not more dependent

An answer teaches nothing. The list, the order, the measurement and the rule-out are how a first-year tech comes to work the problem the way a master tech does. Take that away and you’ve trained him to ask the box.

What this covers: the app, the audit, the record and every screen a tech, writer, owner or instructor sees. Nothing there is generated, and nothing there decides.

Where a computer helped draft words in The Standard or the suspect lists, a person read every line before it shipped, and every spec was checked against its source. That’s the whole of it. Nothing decides on its own.
